The President has appointed Arun Kumar Rai as the Judge of the Jharkhand High Court.
The Notification issued by the Ministry of Law & Justice states, “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Arun Kumar Rai, to be a Judge of the Jharkhand High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”
On 18th January, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the appointment of Rai, as a judge of the Jharkhand High Court.
The recommendation, originally made by the Jharkhand High Court collegium in September of the previous year, underwent scrutiny by the only consulting judge in the Supreme Court familiar with Jharkhand High Court matters.
The candidate's suitability was assessed, considering all the relevant material, including the report from the Judgment Assessment Committee.
