Sensitive Counselling Of Children Needed To Address Impact Of Offences: Justice SN Pathak Of Jharkhand High Court
Jharkhand High Court's Juvenile Justice-cum-POCSO Committee in collaboration with an NGO SAMARPAN had organized a two-day program titled “हर बच्चा अनमोल रत्न” (Har Bachcha Anamol Ratn) at the Observation Home, Dumardaga, Ranchi, on November 29 and 30.
The event aimed to celebrate talents and achievements of children while fostering their inclusive development by providing equal opportunities for all and promoting a sense of belonging among them.
The program was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Justice S.N. Pathak, Judge and Chairperson of the Juvenile Justice -cum- POCSO Committee, and Guest of Honour, Justice Anubha Rawat Choudhary, Judge and Member of the Committee.
Chief Guest Dr. Justice S.N. Pathak emphasized the importance of devotion, discipline, character building, yogasanas and moral education. Further, for protection of child's rights and empowerment Justice Pathak stressed on "sensitive counselling to address the impact of offences committed".
Guest of Honour Justice Anubha Rawat Choudhary in her address encouraged the children while emphasizing on how education can empower them to achieve a respectable life. Justice Choudhary further called for collective efforts to create an inclusive environment that prioritizes children's education, growth and well-being where children can feel secure, valued, and supported, preparing them for reintegration into society.
The event saw the attendance of 140 participants including 85 children, along with several dignitaries including Shri Sudarshan Mandal, IG, Prison; Shri Diwakar Pandey, Judicial Commissioner, Ranchi; Shri Manjunath Bhajantri, Deputy Commissioner; Shri Chandan Sinha, Senior Superintendent of Police; Senior CID Officers; Shri Manoj Kumar, Secretary, Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security (DWCD&SS); Shri Abhay Nandan Ambastha, Commissioner of Disabled Persons; Ms. Sameera S., Director, JSCPS; Shri Amit Gupta, PM(JJB), Ranchi; Adv. Hemlata Rawat and Dr. Rupashree, President, Samarpan, Deoghar, NGO; Col J.K. Singh, Nodal Officer for Security at the Observation Home, and others.
The program was coordinated by Rajiv Ranjan, Secretary, and Tanvee, Deputy Secretary of the Juvenile Justice -cum- POCSO Committee.
Children displayed their talents through vibrant performances, including tribal and patriotic dances, a yogasana demonstration, folk songs, and a monologue on mothers. Two informative stalls on cyber security awareness and anti-drug awareness, set up by the CID, engaged the children with interactive quizzes. The CID also organized a thrilling dog squad demonstration showcasing advanced skills.
On November 29, various competitions, including Maths tests, a General Knowledge quiz, essay writing, chess, carrom, sack race, marble spoon race, and music competitions. These activities provided children with a platform to showcase their intellectual, physical, and artistic abilities, fostering holistic development. These events followed earlier celebrations on Children's Day, November 14, 2024, which featured a screening of actor Vikrant Massey starrer “12th Fail” and a drawing competition.
Vir Chakra recipient Subedar Shatrughan Singh, a Kargil War Hero, shared his war experiences and was felicitated by the Chief Guest. Shri Manoj Kumar, Secretary, DWCD&SS, lauded the children's yoga performances and assured the provision of yoga mats for all the children at the Observation Home.
A Certificate of Appreciation was also presented to the SAP 2 Battalion personnel for providing round the clock security at Observation Homes of Jharkhand.
Prizes, including track suits, shoes, certificates, and medals, were awarded to winners of the various competitions. Additionally, winter jackets and books were distributed to all children, symbolizing care and encouragement.
The program was deemed a resounding success, reflecting the collective commitment of stakeholders to ensuring the well-being and holistic development of children.
