The Gujarat High Court has dismissed a plea seeking directions for implementation of a District Education Officer's order for refund of the fees additionally charged from the students by a school Justice Nikhil S. Kariel said though the order may have been passed upon a complaint filed by the petitioner but he is is not a person who could be stated to be aggrieved on account of non compliance of the order.
It would appear that he has no lis in the matter as he is neither a parent of any child studying in the school nor it is his case that he is in any other manner connected with the activities of the school, the bench said.

The Gujarat High Court on Thursday observed that once an FIR is quashed, news articles related to it should be deleted by the press as continuous circulation could potentially harm the goodwill of the person against whom the FIR was filed. However, the court did not pass any direction for deletion of the news articles at this stage. The observations were made by a bench of Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice NV Anjaria during the hearing of an appeal filed by an NRI businessman.

While dealing with a contempt plea concerning the alleged incident of public flogging of certain Muslim men last month, the Gujarat High Court today issued a notice to 32 Policemen seeking their responses.
The plea, filed by one Jakir Yusufbhai Makwana and Sajid Kalamudin Ansari, alleges that the Junagadh police officials not only subjected them and other alleged rioters involved in the Jungadh Mob Violence to custodial violence and public flogging, and thereby violated the Guidelines issued by the Supreme Court in the case of DK Basu case.
Justice Sunita Agarwal Sworn In As Chief Justice Of Gujarat High Court
Justice Sunita Agarwal on 23.07.2023 took oath as the 29th Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court. The oath-taking ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar, where Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office.
The ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Speaker of Gujarat Assembly Shankar Chaudhary, Minister of Law and Justice Rushikesh Patel, the high court judges and other dignitaries.

The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday rapped the Ahmedabad traffic police and the municipal corporation for their failure to regulate traffic in the city, observing that they don't have the spine to implement the laws. The division bench of Justices AS Supehia and MR Mengdey made the remark while referring to the accident that took place at the ISKCON bridge on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway on July 20 whereby a car driving at over 140 kmph mowed down nine people and injured 13 others.
