Justice Biren Vaishnav To Helm Gujarat High Court Once Again As Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal Goes On Leave

The Central Government has notified the appointment of Justice Biren Aniruddh Vaishnav to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court from March 20-31.The appointment was made in view of the fact that Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal is going on leave during that time.
The March 19 notification issued by the Union Ministry Law and Justice states:
"In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Biren Aniruddh Vaishnav, Judge of the Gujarat High Court, to perform the duties of office of the Chief Justice of that High Court during the period of absence of Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court, who is proceeding on leave from 20.03.2025 up to 31.03.2025".
Justice Vaishnav has previously headed the high court when Chief Justice Agarwal went on leave between February 18 to March 2.
Notably, last month the Gujarat High Court Advocates Association in its extra ordinary general meeting had resolved to seek the transfer of Chief Justice Agarwal.
