The Gujarat High Court has issued a notice announcing the schedule and details of the National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on March 9, 2024.
The notice outlines the subjects to be addressed during the Lok Adalat as specified by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Gujarat State Legal Services Authority. The National Lok Adalat, scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of March 2024, will focus on the following matters:
I. Criminal Compoundable Offenses
II. NI Act cases under Section 138
III. Money Recovery Cases
IV. MACT Cases
V. Labour and Employment dispute cases
VI. Electricity, Water Bills, and other bill payment cases (excluding non-compoundable)
VII. Matrimonial disputes (except divorce)
VIII. Land Acquisition cases
IX. Services matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits
X. Revenue Cases (pending in High Court only)
XI. Other civil cases (such as rent, easementary rights, injunction suits, specific performance suits) etc.
The Notice dated January 29, 2024, stated, “The High Court of Gujarat is contemplating to hold the National Lok Adalat on the above-mentioned subjects specified by NALSA for the matters pending in the High Court of Gujarat, on 09-03-2024 (2nd Saturday).”
“Advocates / concerned parties, who are interested to place their pending matters in the Lok Adalat scheduled to be held in the High Court of Gujarat on 09-03-2024 (2nd Saturday), for settlement of dispute, are requested to contact the office of High Court Legal Services Committee at the below mentioned address / e-mail at legalaid-hcguj@nic.in along with the particulars of their matters on or before 02-03-2024. All are requested to co-operate and participate in the National Lok Adalat,” the Notice added.
