The Gauhati High Court has sought information from Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) with regard to the status of major development works undertaken after its constitution on February 10, 2003, and the recruitments made on the subjects for which it was given absolute authority.

While hearing a PIL filed by Bodo Writer Academy and Others, the division bench of Chief Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Arun Dev Choudhury said that as a period of nearly 20 years has passed, it would be appropriate to seek information on the above mentioned issues.

The court directed the petitioners and respondents including Union of India, Assam government, BTC and others to file their respective affidavits on the above-mentioned aspects.

The matter is again listed on June 22.
