The Delhi High Court has engaged services of four sign language interpreters on a provisional basis, till the finalization of a “comprehensive panel”.

The sign language interpreters have been engaged for the Delhi High Court as well as the district courts in the national capital.

A circular issued on Thursday states that Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma has passed the direction on the recommendations of High Court’s Information Technology and Accessibility Committee.

It has been stated that the services of the four persons will be engaged on payment of a lump sum fee per case at the rate of Rs.7,500 per diem.

The sign language interpreters are Saurav Roychowdhury, Atul Kumar, Shivoy Sharma and Manisha Sharma.

Last month, Justice Prathiba M Singh engaged the services of a sign language interpreter for the benefit of a hearing impaired litigant who have moved a petition for making films friendly for visually and hearing impaired individuals.
