The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday told the Delhi High Court that no coercive action will be taken against former Mumbai zonal director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Sameer Wankhede till May 22 in the Aryan Khan bribery case.
The oral assurance was given by CBI’s counsel Nikhil Goel before Justice Vikas Mahajan that the agency will not act against Wankhede till Monday.
Wankhede has been summoned by CBI today for interrogation in connection with the bribery case.
The matters relates to an alleged demand of Rs. 25 crores from Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for not framing his son in the 2021 cruise ship drugs case.
The court was hearing Wankhede’s plea seeking a free and fair investigation in the case. In the interim, he also sought stay on the summons issued by the probe agency.
After a preliminary objection was raised by CBI that the plea was not maintainable in Delhi as the subject matter of the case is from Maharashtra, Wankhede withdrew his petition with a liberty to approach the concerned court in Maharashtra.
