Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has moved the Delhi High Court challenging the denial of political clearance by the Union Government for her visit to Brisbane for attending a conference.
The matter was mentioned by Oberoi’s counsel today before a division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula which allowed it for hearing tomorrow.
Seeking an urgent listing of the case, the counsel said that Oberoi has to travel to Brisbane in Australia on October 09 to attend the conference. Accordingly, the bench said that it will list the matter tomorrow.
Oberoi has sought permission to attend the 2023 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor's Forum in Brisbane. The event is scheduled to take place between October 11 and 13.
Last month, similar petition was moved by Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai challenging the denial of political clearance to him for travelling to New York to attend the Columbia India Energy Dialogue.
The matter was closed after the Union Government told court that the political clearance was granted.
