Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar on Friday bid farewell to the Delhi High Court on superaanuation after having served as a judge for 24 years.

“I do have the satisfaction that I discharged my duties in fear of God and solemn oath I had taken. I managed to do the work tonight for most satisfied satisfaction only because of the love and affection shown to me by both the senior advocates and young members of the bar,” Justice Bhatnagar said in his farewell speech.

He thanked his family for always having his back and paid regards to his parents and his wife for being a pillar of strength for him in the legal profession.

“Now the time has come to take the blessings from all of you present here for myself and my family members. I've been a practicing lawyer for 13 years as a judicial officer for 24 years. And in this long span of time, all the goodness that this profession has given me, the greatest of all is by far the people I've met along the way and memories I have created right from early days as a practicing lawyer. To my last day as a judge of this great institution, my venture into the field of law was completely accidental,” he said.

Justice Bhatnagar said that he always had a good relationship with the bar, the district court and the Delhi High Court, and that the bar has always supported and assisted him.

Justice Bhatnagar joined the Delhi Higher Judicial Service in May, 2000, and presided over various Civil and Criminal Courts.

He had been the District Judge of North-West District, Rohini Courts from December 08, 2016 to May 26, 2019.

He was elevated as a Permanent Judge of the Delhi High Court on May 27, 2019.
