Delhi High Court Questions Maintainability Of Petition Against AAP Poll Promise To Give ₹2100 Monthly Aid To Women
The Delhi High Court on Thursday questioned the maintainability of a petition against the election promise made by Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) recently, promising to give Rs. 2100 monthly aid to Delhi women under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana.
Justice Jyoti Singh questioned the petitioner, Vijay Kumar, as to how the plea was maintainable as an election petition.
“How is it maintainable as an election petition? Go and file a PIL,” the judge remarked.
The Court asked Kumar to make submissions on the maintainability of the plea and listed the matter for hearing tomorrow.
Kumar had filed a complaint on January 03 to the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the Delhi Government's announcement as per which Rs. 2100 monthly stipend is promised to be paid to every women, having a voter ID card of the national capital. It is his case that no action has been taken till date on the complaint.
He has sought a direction on the ECI to dispose of his complaint expeditiously. A further direction is sought on ECI to stop further filling of forms regarding the Mahila Samman Yojna by AAP workers.
