The Chhattisgarh High Court registered a suo-moto case based on the newspaper item that uncovers the dilapidated condition of the primary school building and the danger of electrocution amongst the children studying in the school.

The news item goes on to state that the children of the Government Primary School, Tukardih (Bilaspur) are studying amidst the danger of being electrocuted.

It stated that the dilapidated roof of the school building coupled with the illegal electricity wires going over the school building and touching its roof creates a scary situation for the 139 children studying in the school.

“The building has become dilapidated and adjacent to the school building; the transformer has been installed from where most of the villagers have taken illegal connections. Since the illegal connections go over the building and touches the roof of the school building, there is supply of current in the roof.”, the news item states.

The news item added that despite several complaints to the electricity department to disconnect the illegal connection going over the school building, no action was taken by the department till date which has put the lives of 139 students in danger.

Expressing concerns over the student's safety, the bench comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Bibhu Datta Guru directed the Secretary, School Education Department, Chhattisgarh Government to file his personal affidavit in this regard.

A time was also granted to the Advocate General to take necessary instructions in the matter.
