The Central Government has notified the appointment of Advocate Ravindra Agrawal as an additional Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice SK Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna earlier this month recommended his name for appointment as a Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Earlier this year, Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High in consultation with two senior-most Judges of the Court had recommended the elevation of Advocate Agrawal as a Judge of the High Court. The Chief Minister and Governor of the State concurred with the recommendation.

The apex judicial appointment body also took into consideration the inputs received from the Government of India regarding his suitability.

Though Union Government had pointed out some allegations against the Advocate, however, the Collegium found nothing specific bearing on his integrity or reputation.
