A plea has been moved before the Calcutta High Court seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of Dr Dipro Bhattacharya an anaesthetist at Jhargram Hospital.

According to reports, the doctor was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a lodge in Jhargram, along with a note.

It is alleged by the petitioners that the death of Bhattacharya was due to external factors, including a "threat culture" which the doctor was reportedly vocal against.

Notably, it has also been widely reported that Bhattacharya was earlier posted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where a resident doctor was recently raped and murdered, leading to nationwide doctors' protests.

These protests also unearthed various allegations of 'threat culture' which exist at Bengal's medical colleges, including RG Kar.
