The Bombay High Court has granted bail to gangster Chhota Rajan, who was convicted for the murder of hotelier Jaya Shetty in 2001.

On May 30, 2024, a special MCOCA Court convicted Rajan along with others and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

This was Rajan's second life sentence and he is already serving time for the 2011 murder of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey.

Today, a division bench of Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Prithviraj Chavan granted bail and suspended his life sentence, till his appeal against the special MCOCA Court's judgment is decided.
