The Central Government has notified the appointment of three Judicial Officers - Abhay Jainarayanji Mantri, Shyam Chhaganlal Chandak and Neeraj Pradeep Dhote as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced their appointment on 'X', (formerly Twitter).

The Supreme Court Collegium on October 10 recommended the appointment of the three Judicial Officers as Judges of the Bombay High Court.

Justice Nitin Jamdar, Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, in consultation with two senior-most judges initially recommended their appointment on June 27, 2023. Chief Ministers and Governors of Maharashtra and Goa concurred with the recommendation.

The Supreme Court Collegium noted that the consultee-judges did not make any adverse observations regarding the integrity or reputation of the three Judicial Officers. Despite two of the Officers having been previously overlooked, the Collegium recommended their elevation considering the positive assessments from the Bombay High Court Collegium and the Central Government.
