The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended appointment of Additional Judges Justice Anil Pansare and Justice Sandipkumar More as Permanent Judges of the Bombay High Court.

This recommendation comes after the Bombay High Court Collegium unanimously recommended the two Additional Judges for permanent appointment on April 12, 2023. The Chief Ministers and Governors of Maharashtra and Goa have also concurred with this recommendation.

According to the Collegium’s Memorandum of Procedure, Supreme Court Judges familiar with the functioning of the Bombay High Court were consulted to assess the suitability of the nominated Judges. A Committee of two Supreme Court Judges, appointed by the Chief Justice of India, assessed the judgments of Justice Pansare and Justice More.

After evaluation of the material on record, the Collegium concluded that both Justice Pansare and Justice More are fit and suitable for appointment as Permanent Judges of the Bombay High Court, against the existing vacancies. Currently, there are 40 Permanent Judges and 26 Additional Judges in the Bombay High Court against the sanctioned strength of 94 judges.
