High Court Bar Association, Allahabad has passed a resolution to resume judicial work from Wednesday in lieu of the assurance given by the bench headed by Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker in the suo moto PIL registered over lathi charge by some Police personnel against Lawyers in Hapur.
In the resolution, it has been stated that though the High Court has assured that necessary action will be taken, the advocates are disturbed by the actions of the police against lawyers across the State of Uttar Pradesh; Police has been constantly trying to snub peaceful protests by lawyers and has been registering false cases against them.
Further, a request has been made by the President, Ashok Kumar Singh, and Honry. Secretary, Nitin Sharma, of the High Court Bar Association, Allahabad to the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court to declare that ‘No adverse orders’ will be passed in absence of counsel as many have left for their hometowns due to Janmashtami.
However, the Oudh Bar Association of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has resolved to abstain from work judicial work on Wednesday due to the "injustice done by the police to the lawyers at Hapur".
On Monday, the Allahabad High Court took suo moto cognizance of the strike by the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh in light of the Hapur incident. The case was heard by a bench comprising of Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker and Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi which directed inclusion of Sri Hari Nath Pandey, Retd. Principal Judge, Family Court, Lucknow in the State constituted Special Investigation Team. Further directions were issued to the Superintendent of Police to register the FIRs of the lawyers regarding the Hapur incident.
