Hapur Incident: Judicial Committee Constituted By Allahabad High Court To Redress Lawyers' Grievance To Convene On Sept 16

The Judicial Committee constituted by the Allahabad High Court to address the grievances raised at the Bar with respect to the Hapur Incident will convene on 16th September at 11:00 am.

As per a notice released by the Senior Registrar (Judicial),

“The Hon'ble Chairperson of the Committee has been pleased to direct that the Committee shall hold its meeting in the Committee Room, of the Allahabad High Court at 11.00 A.M. on 16.09.2023.”

In a special sitting of Allahabad High Court on Saturday, 9^th September, a judicial committee was constituted by the Court to address the grievances of the lawyers regarding the Hapur Incident. The committee comprises sitting judges of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta (as the Chair), Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Mohd. Faiz Alam Khan. It further includes Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh or his nominee, Chairman, Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh and President, High Court Bar Association.

Subsequently, a clarification was issued by the bench comprising Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker and Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi that President, High Court Bar Association includes President of the High Court Bar Association Allahabad as well as President, Oudh Bar Association, Lucknow.

In addition to physical appearances, opportunity to address the Committee through virtual mode will also be provided.

“By the notice the persons aggrieved in the incident/members of the Public concerned are hereby informed that they may place their grievance/ relevant material in the matter, before the Committee for its consideration. Those interested in participating in the proceedings in the virtual mode may do so, for which the VC-link for joining the Committee proceedings virtually shall be uploaded shortly.”
