In a reply to an application filed by Advocate K.C. Jain under the Right To Information Act, 2005, the Registrar, Central Public Information Officer, Allahabad High Court has stated that those petitioners seeking to appear “in person” can e-file their petitions from district courts' eSewa Kendras.
It has been stated that the option for photo identity verification of such petitioners will be removed from the filing process at eSewa Kendras.
This means that if a petitioner wishes to appear in-person before the Allahabad High Court, they no longer need to travel to Prayagraj or Lucknow for photo identity verification at the designated photo affidavit centres. They can file their petitions directly at the Allahabad High Court from the eSewa Kendras at the District Court. However, it has been stated that the petitioner must be physically present at the e-service centre, and a scanned notarized affidavit with the petitioner's photo can be used.
In the reply, it has been stated that the Allahabad High Court has already issued a directive to all district judges through a letter dated 23.04.2024.
For bringing about the change, reliance has been placed on decision of the Supreme Court on 15.04.2024 in Mohammad Anas Chaudhary vs. Registrar General, Allahabad High Court. In compliance with this order of the Supreme Court, the High Court issued a letter No. 3609/CPC/e-Courts/Allahabad dated 23.04.2024, informing all District Judges to maximize the use of eSewa Kendras in the District Courts of Uttar Pradesh and to ensure compliance with Rule 3-A of Chapter 24 of the Allahabad High Court Rules, which requires petitioners to be physically present at the district courts' e-service centers.
