A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Allahabad High Court alleging serious embezzlement of university funds and fraud in recruitment process adopted by the management of the Bundelkhand University.
It has been alleged that the Rs. 40 crores have been syphoned off from the fund of Bundelkhand University by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mukesh Pandey along with the Registrar, Financial Officer and certain professors of the University. It has been alleged that money was collected from the B.Ed. Examination 2023 and had been transferred to the private joint account of the Vice Chancellor with one of the Professors, which was illegal.
Further allegations have been made regarding misuse of Rs. 150 crores which were in a fixed deposit for the purpose of NAAC visit. It has also been alleged that for various construction works around the University, tenders have been awarded without being advertised or following a proper tendering process.
Petitioner, an Assistant Professor in the department of Chemistry, had been working in the University for 21 years. It has been stated in the petition that she had been denied promotion. She stated that apart from financial irregularities, various appointments had been made based on favoritism and not merits.
