Due to continuous postponement of elections of District Bar Association, Prayagraj, the Allahabad High Court has appointed the Elders Committee for free and fair elections of the Bar Association.
The bench comprising Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Prashant Kumar, after due consultation with senior advocates of the Allahabad High Court appointed the following advocates of the District Bar Association in the Elders Committee:
1. Sri Narendra Dev Pandey, Advocate
2. Sri Radha Raman Mishra, Advocate
3. Sri Hari Sagar Mishra, Advocate
4. Sri Dinesh Srivastava, Advocate
5. Sri Rajendra Srivastava, Advocate
6. Sri Raghav Singh, Advocate
7. Sri Sita Ram Singh, Advocate
8. Sri Pramod Singh Neeraj, Advocate
The Court observed that on previous occasions when the Court had directed the Elders Committee to ensure elections are carried out in a fair and peaceful manner, the same could not be done due to chaos and nuisance created by a faction of lawyers.
“Again the matter was listed on 01.11.2023 and on the said date, it was informed that on account of chaos and nuisance created by some faction of advocates, the free and fair election could not be ensured. On the said date, inspite of adequate police protection and even the City Magistrate, who was also present in response to our previous order, could not stop the nuisance created by the Advocates,” observed the Court.
Since, the election could not be conducted under the earlier Elders Committee, the Court appointed R.K. Ojha, Senior Advocate, Amarendra Nath Singh, Senior Advocate and Bharat Pratap Singh, Advocate who are part of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association as Observers for holding free and fair election under their guidance.
Along with the directions to candidates regarding campagin, the Court directed that the entire election proceedings must be recorded in CCTV cameras.
