Govindacharya Moves SC On Rohingya Deportation Issue

RSS ideologue Govindacharya has moved the Supreme Court seeking permission to intervene in the petition pending before it to restraint the government from deporting Rohingyas to Myanmar.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra is dealing with the PIL filed by advocate Prashant Bhushan on Rohingya deportation issue.

Filing an intervention application, Govindacharya took a different stand saying Rohingya Muslims were being used by terrorist outfit Al-Qaeda and the government should not be stopped from deporting them.

“It has also become known that Al-Qaeda is trying to use the Rohingya Community for terror and Jihad ... The Union Home Ministry has also issued an advisory to all states asking them to identify and deport all illegally staying immigrants as they pose a threat to the national security,” his application stated.

As per the application, “the decision by the Government has not been made in haste. The Government’s decision to consult with the National Security Advisor, Intelligence Bureau Director, besides other top officers of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other intelligence agencies shows that the threat is credible”.

It stated that national security is to be paramount and Rohingyas have no constitutional right to stay in India and their deportation would be in consonance with the exercise of the sovereign power vested with the Central Government.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court, with respect to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, had ruled “who have illegally migrated to India or trespassed into, have no legal right of any kind to remain in India and they are liable to be deported", the senior RSS leader said.
