Principal Bench of National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) in two months time assesses and recovering the environmental compensation on Polluter Pays principle from the polluting units, cement factories in question at Sikandrabad, district for creating lot of air pollution by burning rubber, cloth, plastic and wood for making steam in the boiler.

A bench led by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel while disposing off an application filed by Residents of Sikandrabad Industrial Area was informed by the board about the action taken report saying "The cement industries in question are complying with the norms. Some pyrolysis units are using old tyres. Four such units have been closed. Subsequently, closure order was suspended in respect of two who stopped violation."

It was also informed that State PCB is in the process of assessing and recovering the environmental compensation on Polluter Pays principle from the polluting units in question. Following which the bench gave the direction.
