The principal bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has formed a joint committee to prepare a factual report and report on actions taken regarding violations of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and NGT guidelines by the Municipal Corporation of Hisar.
“The State PCB will be the nodal agency for coordination and logistic support. The report may include status of solid waste management for Hisar which inter-alia to include quantification in terms of waste generation, waste processed and remedial measures taken to bridge gap between waste generation and processing and legacy waste remediated,” said the bench of Justice Sheo Kumar Singh, Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi and Dr. A.Senthil Vel.
The Tribunal was hearing the plea raising violation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 and the guidelines issued by NGT by the Municipal Corporation, Hisar. The household waste is collected without segregation which is causing huge loss to exchequer and also causing environmental loss, it was submitted.
According to the applicant, the garbage disposal vehicles do not reach all households as a result of which the citizens are forced to dump the garbage in open, which leads to public health hazards.
Considering the submission the bench constituted the joint Committee consisting of Collector, Hisar and one representative from Haryana State PCB.
While listing the matter to September 06, The Tribunal has directed the committee to file the reports “within four weeks.”
