Delhi High Court Cautioned woman to come clean on Gang-rape and Kidnapping charges

A Division Bench comprising of Justice P.K. Bhasin and Justice J.R. Midha of the Delhi High Court have warned a woman to make a clean breast of the accusation levied by her that she was kidnapped and gang-raped by five men, whom she owed some money.

The court reportedly  asked the accused, who claimed vulnerability, to appear on the next date of the hearing. She pleaded that on account of her being a Dalit woman, she was raped by the men in order to straighten out the con played by the woman. The court said that case lodged by the woman appeared to be a "false one as she cheated them on the pretext of giving them jobs in Delhi Metro and grabbed Rs18.5 lakh".

The woman had challenged the acquittal of the accused, who are all from Sonipat and Rohtak districts of Haryana. According to them, when they didn’t get the promised job, they demanded their money back. The woman instead pressed rape charges against them. Refusing to accept her accusations, the Court said that "she built a story so she didn't have to return the money" and added that the woman "must have cheated public at large".

The decision of the trial court was also against the woman. The trial court had found that she wasn’t kidnapped or raped as well as raised question over her lifestyle which wasn’t proportionate to her economic status.

The High Court has directed the Police to investigate further into the matter and find out any other victims of the fraud committed by the woman. The Bench finally warned the woman that if she didn’t return the money back, the court would "consider ordering registration of a cheating case against her".
