In a repeat of last year’s surprise inspections at the district courts in the city, Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal along with several judges paid an unannounced visit on Thursday morning to the six subordinate courts.

ACJ Mittal, who is a strict advocate for an upright and disciplined justice delivery system and administration, was assisted by Justice Ravindra Bhat, Hima  Kohli, Sanjiv Khanna, GS Sistani, Vipin Sanhi and S Muralidhar.

Sources said the Acting Chief Justice visited Saket district court.

The team visited the district courts to check if the judicial officers were on time and in their seat during the working hours.

This surprise visit is a repeat of last year’s inspection when Justice Mittal along with her brethren made an unannounced round of all district courts.

Justice Mittal made headlines not only for her administrative ways but also for shunning her official vehicle and rather taking an auto-rickshaw to reach Patiala House court to avoid traffic and public glare.

Following that surprise inspection, many judges were transferred out of their postings and massive over-hauling took place in the subordinate judiciary besides abolishment of various redundant courts.
