The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission’s (NCDRC) President Justice A.P. Sahi issued a notification dated 11th August, 2023 with practice directions for Consumer Commissions.
The directions include:
- The Registry shall issue all kinds of notices like Show Cause Notices, Hearing Notices, etc., to the parties at their email addresses and WhatsApp numbers, etc.
- When submitting fresh Consumer Complaints, First Appeals, Revision Petitions, Second Appeals, CCPA Appeals, Transfer Applications, etc., the Complainants/Appellants/Petitioners, or their counsel must provide the email addresses, mobile numbers, and WhatsApp numbers of the Opposite Party or Respondent on which show cause notices may be served.
- For pending or old cases, both the Complainants/Appellants/Petitioners, or their Counsels and the Opposite Party/Respondent, as applicable, are required to provide their respective email addresses, mobile numbers, and WhatsApp numbers to the Registry to facilitate the serving of notices, etc. to them.
- All documents submitted by the parties or their counsels shall include the email addresses, mobile numbers, WhatsApp numbers, etc. of the involved parties or their counsels.
The said directions have been issued by the President in terms of Regulation 24 of the Consumer Protection (Consumer Commission Procedure) Regulations, 2020.
