The Supreme Court Collegium has reiterated its recommendation for appointment of Mr. Justice Ramendra Jain, Additional Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court as permanent Judge of High Court.
The Three-Judge Collegium comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices Jasti Chelameshwar and Ranjan Gogoi on Tuesday resolved that it would only be appropriate that the proposal for appointment of Mr. Justice Ramendra Jain as Permanent Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court is processed most expeditiously keeping in view that the current term of Mr. Justice Ramendra Jain is going to expire very shortly on 19th April 2018.
“We have gone through the observations made in the file referred back to the Chief Justice of India for reconsideration of the recommendation made by this Collegium on 26th March 2018. The Collegium, on reconsideration, resolves to reiterate its recommendation for appointment of Mr. Justice Ramendra Jain as Permanent Judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court, especially when no specific reason except the issue of his transfer for seeking reconsideration has been recorded in the file”.
The collegium resolved that there is no ground for linking the proposal of transfer of Mr. Justice Ramendra Jain with the proposal for his appointment as Permanent Judge and even for revisiting, at this crucial juncture, the decision dated 26th March, 2018 for his appointment as Permanent Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court.
Justice Jain was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court with effect from 20.04.2015.
