As the number of cases pile up and the strength of court staff continues to be short, a circular has been issued to the officials of the six district courts in Delhi that Child Care Leave or CCL is not a matter of their right.
District & Sessions Judge (Headquarters) Talwant Singh has issued a circular wherein he says, “It is made clear to all concerned that the Child Care Leave cannot be claimed as a matter of right and no one will be entitled for grant of CCL at the cost of interest of this institution”.
Mr Singh noted that the officials of the establishment are not complying with the rules to avail CCL and in future, all applications for CCL should reach his office before 15 days with a covering letter clearly spelling out need for such a leave and supporting documents.
It is to be noted that early this month, District & Sessions Judge (South-East) Girish Kathpalia had called a meeting of senior judicial officers wherein they mulled creation of creche for officials posted in south-east district (Saket court complex) with an idea to reduce the requirement of CCL.
One of the staff posted at the Tis Hazari court complex said on the condition of anonymity, “There is acute shortage of court staff in every cadre be it Ahlmads, Stenographers, Nazirs or others. Unfortunately, the authorities concerned are not doing anything to fill the vacancies and are rather passing such Tughlaki orders”.
