The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh have courted trouble for not executing a non-bailable warrant of arrest issued against a person who violated the orders of the Supreme Court.
In November, the court had directed tenants to hand over to the landlord vacant possession of the entire premises without any delay and as they failed to comply with the order, the court had issued non-bailable warrant of arrest against one Asgar on 15th December. “The person who was to be arrested is present in-person along with an affidavit stating that he has now complied with the order of the Court,” the bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi said.
“We would like the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the State of Uttar Pradesh to explain why the warrant of arrest issued by this Court has not been executed within the time fixed by the Court,” it said, adding that they had to file an affidavit before 13th January or else appear in person before the court on the said day.
