The Central Government has issued a notification reducing the court fees payable for  filing cases before the district consumer disputes redressal forums.

The notification issued on September 14 amends Section 9A of the Consumer Protection Rules, 1987, which deals with court fee applicable before the district consumer dispute redressal forum.

Here is the revised court fee structure:

Under the unamended rules, the initial slab was fixed at Rs. 1 lakh instead of Rs. 5 lakh. It required payment of Rs. 200 for disputes valued between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 5 lakhs; Rs. 400 for disputes valued between Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs; and Rs. 500 for disputes valued between Rs. 10 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs.
