Centre Notifies Nomination Of 7 New NALSA Members [Read Notification]

Through a notification dated 5 April, the Centre has nominated eight members for appointment to the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). Those nominated are:

1. Justice D.N. Patel, Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court (Ex-officio member)


2. Justice Rekha Sharma, Former Judge of Delhi High Court (Member)


3. Justice Gita Mittal, Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court (Member)


4. Senior Advocate Sriram Panchu (Member)


5. Justice Ali Mohd. Magrey, Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court (Member)


6. Ajay Pandey, Jindal Global Law School (Member)


7. Padma Bhushan D.R. Mehta, IAS (Retd.) (Member)

The notification was issued in view of the fact that the term of seven current NALSA members expired on 3 February. These members are:

1. Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain, Former Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court


2. Senior Advocate Mr. P. Vishwanatha Shetty


3. Justice Kailash Gambhir, Former Judge of Delhi High Court


4. Justice Rekha Sharma, Former Judge of Delhi High Court


5. P.S. Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab


6. Justice Virender Singh, Former Chief Justice High Court of Jharkhand
