In a move that will be a positive step in digitisation of daily workings of both Higher as well as the lower judiciary, the Committee of Administrative Judges of the Bombay High Court has granted permission to supply digital copies of notes of evidence in PDF format to parties or their advocates free of cost.

A circular dated July 20, 2018 signed by the Registrar General Shrinivas Aggarwal states –

The Committee of the Hon’ble Administrative Judges has been pleased to grant permission to supply digital copies of the notes of evidence in PDF to the parties or their advocates, free of cost on applications being made by them and allowed by the Presiding Officer of the concerned court, on the external devices provided by them or their email addresses instead of providing them with hard copies thereof.”

Moreover, all principal district judges and other principal judges in the State of Maharashtra, Goa and Union Territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli have been directed to supply a free copy of notes of evidence in PDF format to parties or their advocates.

Needless to say, aside from digitisation, the said development will also prevent unnecessary wastage of paper.
