Allahabad High Court, has quashed the order of the Uttar Pradesh government that removed six members of the Shia Waqf Board.

An order was passed by the Uttar Pradesh government on June 16, stating that the members of the Waqf Board had indulged in some irregularities with respect to the properties of the Waqf Board.

A bench comprising Justice Rajan Roy and Justice SN Agnihotri quashed the order stating that as per the provisions of Sections 20 and 20A of the Waqf Act 1995, the mandatory requirements of notice and fair hearing were not complied with.

However, the court allowed the UP government to proceed with the matter afresh.
