Actress Molestation Case: Kerala HC Adjourns Actor Dileep's Second Bail Plea To August 18

Kerala High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of second bail application filed by actor Dileep in the actress molestation case.

Dileep has been under custody since 10.07.2017, after he was arrested on conspiracy charges for committing abduction and sexual assault on another leading actress. His earlier bail application was rejected by the Kerala High Court on July 24.

One of the reasons for the earlier rejection was that one of the conspirator, Appunni, a close aide of Dileep was still at large at that point of time. Appunni has been subsequently arrested.  In the present bail application this development has been cited as a change in circumstances warranting grant of bail.

Apart from that, the bail application points out lapses in the investigation.  References are made to the statements made by the ex-DGP T.P Senkumar which alleged that the investigation officer Dinendra Kashyap was not present when the interrogation of Dileep took place prior to his arrest.

It is also stated in the bail application that there was close proximity between ADGP Sandhya and another Malayalam film actress who had made the allegation of conspiracy in the incident immediately after its occurrence. It is also stated that he was wrongly implicated in the case as a result of the conspiracy hatched by his rivals in the film field.

The bail application which runs into more than 50 pages details the events in the life of Dileep, elaborating upon his rise in the film industry from the base, as well as his achievements and accolades.

The allegation made in the remand report is that the conspiracy to attack the victim was hatched in 2013. It is stated that the allegation is totally baseless and false, as it offends common sense to state that the conspiracy remained unexecuted for four years. It is further stated that the alleged motive is totally baseless. He also says that several film shooting projects in which he was the main actor are now stalled, resulting in loss worth crores affecting livelihood of several thousands of persons. According to him, the only piece of evidence to link him in the incident is the letter allegedly addressed to him by the first accused Pulsar Suni from jail.  Dileep pleads that to implicate one solely on the basis of a letter by a co-accused who himself is a hard core criminal is unjust.
