The Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, will hold the 7th GNLU International Maritime Academy, 2018, from March 17 to 24, 2018 at the university campus.
The theme of the 6th edition is ‘Indian Ocean Region - Ports Security, Preventing, Reducing and Controlling - IUU Fishing and Marine Environment Pollution’.
The 2018 edition is designed to explore and assess the trajectory of law and policy affecting maritime commerce, maritime security, and marine environmental protection and resource conservation.
It aims to equip participants with knowledge on contemporary and advance issues and practices on maritime industry related development; to identify legal and policy issues interfacing the economic and industrial development aspects of marine economy; to acquire sound understanding of role and responsibility of blue water navies and maritime power in the development of the maritime industry and overall maritime security; to understand the impact and integration of marine environmental protection and marine resource conservation.
The aim of the academy is to equip participants with theoretical and practical legal, operational strategic issues enabling them to render efficient and effective research, advisory, policy and operational assistance to authorities of navy and maritime forces, agencies, institutions, industry, law firms and students.
The GNLU International Maritime Academy invites applications from serving officers dealing with maritime issues and matters, security and private intelligence companies, lawyers and law firms specializing in law of the sea and maritime laws, governmental officers and staff, researchers and students.
