Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) recently concluded its 21-day Winter Internship Program for the academic session of 2023-24, providing interns with a unique opportunity to explore the intricacies of “Access to Justice”. A noteworthy aspect of the Internship is that law students from all corners of India participated in the internship, contributing to a diverse and dynamic learning environment. Under the able guidance of Justice Manmohan, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Delhi & Executive Chairperson, DSLSA, and Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Ld. Member Secretary, DSLSA, the program has been instrumental in fostering a practical understanding of mechanism of criminal justice system.
The Winter Internship commenced with an Orientation Session on 05.01.2024 at the Auditorium in Tis Hazari, Courts. The session was flagged off by Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Ld. Member Secretary, DSLSA, in the presence of Sh. Naveen Gupta, Ld. Special Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Mridul Gupta, Ld. Additional Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Abhinav Pandey, Ld. Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA, Sh. Tushar Gupta, Ld. Secretary, West DLSA, and Ms. Helly Fur Kaur, Ld. Secretary, Central DLSA.
"Exploring Legal Horizons: An Overview of DSLSA's Winter Internship 2023-24"
Designed with a commitment to nurturing a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of justice delivery, DSLSA's Winter Internship 2023-24 embraced a holistic approach towards student learning. Interns were initially attached to the District Legal Services Authorities, providing them with firsthand exposure to community legal services. As an integral part of the program, participants embarked on dedicated visits to pivotal institutions that play a crucial role in the administration of justice. These included immersive experiences at Police Stations, Jails, Sakhi - One Stop Centre, Delhi Commission for Women, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Child Welfare Committee-VII, and Children Home for girls. Interns were provided with a set of thought-provoking questions to guide their interactions during visits to Jails and Children Home for girls. Additionally, a dedicated form was provided for meticulous documentation during the door-to-door campaign, ensuring a comprehensive and insightful engagement with the community. The visits also extended to the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, offering a panoramic view of the various facets of the legal landscape and enriching their understanding of the intricate interplay between law and societal institutions.

The internship was concluded by a valedictory session held on 25.01.2024, in the presence of Sh. Narottam Kaushal, Ld. Principal District and Sessions Judge & Chairperson, Central DLSA, and Sh. Vinod Kumar, Ld. Principal and Sessions Judge & Chairperson, West DLSA, along with Sh. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Ld. Member Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Naveen Gupta, Ld. Special Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Mridul Gupta, Ld. Additional Secretary, DSLSA, Sh. Abhinav Pandey, Ld. Secretary (Litigation), DSLSA and Sh. Tushar Gupta, Ld. Secretary, West DLSA.
In the valedictory session, all the interns received a Certificate of Participation. Notably, a feedback form was circulated among the interns, during the course of internship, soliciting suggestions on how to enhance the quality of the legal services provided by DSLSA. The three most commendable suggestions earned the contributors a Certificate of Excellence, highlighting the commitment to continual improvement within the legal community. Further, the session culminated with the interns interacting with the Officers of DSLSA and West & Central DLSA, providing an insight into their experience of the internship along with feedback.

“Unlocking Opportunities: Summer Internship by DSLSA”:
Apart from the Winter Internship, DSLSA similarly offers a 21-day Summer Internship in the month of June, and applications will open in April. This program provides a practical understanding of legal intricacies, allowing participants to gain hands-on experience by creating an exposure with agencies involved in the mechanism of delivery of justice.
