Triple Talaq Case: SC Allows Salman Khurshid’s Impleadment Application

The Apex Court has allowed Senior Advocate Salman Khurshid’s impleadment application as a Respondent in the Triple Talaq case. The Bench comprising Chief Justice J.S. Khehar, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice S.K. Kaul has also permitted him to file written submissions within two days, despite the fact that the time for filing such submissions in the matter has already expired.

While mentioning the application, Mr. Khurshid assured the Court that his role would be akin to the role of Amicus Curiae. He will be submitting his own views based on precedents as well as Muslim Personal Law on provisions of talaq.

A Constitution Bench is set to hear the Petitions challenging the Constitutional validity of triple talaq, polygamy and nikah halala from May 11.
