Prashant Bhusan has filed a fresh application in the Supreme Court in the ongoing 2G cases seeking an investigation against TATAs, Karunanidhi family and an IPS Officer. The Supreme Court started monitoring 2G Case pursuant to a Special Leave Petition filed in the year 2010 by Central for Public Interest Litigation. The SLP was filed against dismissal of its prayer by High Court of Delhi for Court monitoring of CBI and ED investigation into 2G spectrum scam. The Court during the hearing of the case has asked the CBI to file a status report on the application.
Bhushan in his application has alleged that the Petitioners before the Court have now come in possession of documents and facts bringing out role of TATA group and alleged cover up involving a senior IPS officer. The Petitioners, represented by Prashant Bhushan has sought a definite direction from the Supreme Court to investigate the role of M/s Tatas and the role played by Karunanidhi family members and an IPS officer, who is named in the Application. If the averments in the Application are found to be true, it will create huge trouble for TATAs, which is considered to be a decent business house in India.
Mr Bhushan, in his application has relied upon an enquiry conducted by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and alleged telephonic conversation between the IPS Officer and other accused in the 2G scam, which according to him, is now surfaced. It has also been mentioned that the authenticity of the tapes are not verified as the recordings are AMR files and AMR codecs incorporate several patents of Nokia Corporation.
2g public interest litigation so far as opened up so far the ugliest form of doing business in India. Thanks to Supreme Court, country is now privy to intriguing behind the scene operations of political-business class.Few years back it was unimaginable to fathom a union minister going behind the bars, but  with the interference of judiciary and constant monitoring of investigation, the law enforcement agencies are now forced to conduct investigation, though reluctantly. Mr. Raja a  former Union Minister was arrested on 02.02.2011 and Ms. Kanimozhi, Member of Parliament and daughter of M. Karunanidhi was arrested on 21.05.2011 as part of the 2G investigation.
